The International Music Showcase Festival is celebrating 10 years of exporting and promoting some of the finest Israeli music to the world. Music showcase festivals take place all over the globe, aimed at sharing local music with top representatives from the global music industry. Israel’s musical showcase is produced by the Yellow Submarine and is thought to be one of the finest in the world.
We are off to the closing night with 3 performances:
Adam Ben Ezra
Adam Ben Ezra is not only a double-bass virtuoso, he is an outright bass superstar, on a personal mission to bring the instrument to the forefront. His solo performances are electric, earning the charismatic and creative multi-instrumentalist and vocalist a reputation as a one-man orchestra. For the past few years Adam has been carving out a unique spot for himself in today’s international musical landscape.
Shay Hazan Quintet
Bassist and composer Shay Hazan, based in Tel-Aviv, presents his latest group release with new reflections and directions. The band, two-horns strong and backed by the classic piano, bass and drums unit, continues to strike ripples in their near and farther surroundings. Only that in Hazan’s case, backing does not mean hiding. His significant bass work carries the group into the magical realms of Gnawa music from Morocco, the new wave of Hip-Hop, and the 1960’s Chicago Free Jazz and human rights movement, all these casted into a fresh blend of old and new flavours.
Gili Yalo
Gili Yalo combines his Ethiopian roots and unique life story with soul, funk, psychedelic, and jazz music and incorporates sounds from traditional Ethiopian music into a contemporary music production. The result is an exceptional, rich, vivid melody accompanied by Gili’s unique voice with lyric in English and Amharic.
