Omri Smadar fans instinctively knew his foray into live performance would be breathtaking, even before seeing him live. Until recently the Tel Aviv-based artist was famous for his mesmeric DJ sets and psychedelic club productions, but now he’s establishing himself as a genre-bending, boundary-smashing live performer too.

Smadar draws on his background in classical and jazz composition and experience as a pianist, DJ and producer to create a live show that stuns and inspires. The live project consists of a 4 piece band, with Omri playing analogue synths and keys alongside electronic drums, percussion and guitar, as well as guest vocalists. Smadar’s live show includes new productions as well as music from his critically-acclaimed EPs and albums, with quirky instrumental additions adding fresh buzz to every track.

Smadar’s live shows are an eclectic mix of thumping 4/4 beats, afro-infused drums, soaring guitar riffs and unexpected vocals to take the audience on an other-worldly journey through the kaleidoscopic mind of the artist. With three sold-out shows in 2022 so far, each performance is connected by a sense of unit and intimacy, whether playing to 400 or 15,000 people. Gliding from electronic Hafla to Cosmic Disco to alternative club music, Omri Smadar is pioneering the new live electronic music experience, and breaking musical barriers as he does it.
