A renowned international jazz pianist and a regular artistic partner of trumpeter Avishai Cohen, Yonathan Avishai presents today “Retrouvailles” (Reunion), his first piano solo album released on the “Paradis Improvisé” collection. 

After “Joys and solitudes” his last trio release on ECM Records, Yonathan finds himself this time alone with the instrument, an experience that seems particularly made for this unique musician who give the impression that he composes silence and sculpts melodies.  

Elegantly strolling through an improvised piece, a jazz standard or an original composition, Yonathan chose to record it all in one take, celebrating both the joy and fragility of being in the moment. A unique and atypical musician Yonathan’s original style revives the deep roots of jazz – swing, blues, and improvisation – in a very personal way, sharing his passion for sound, music and its history
