Hullegeb Festival

The Hullegeb Festival for Israeli-Ethiopian Art Presents:
Opening Show – Between Addis and Rio | Omri Mor, Abate Berihun, Joca Perpignan

Pianist and composer Omri Mor, a beloved guest of the Hullegeb Festival, returns with a cross-continental performance connecting Ethiopia with North Africa and, through the history of the transatlantic slave trade, Africa with Brazil.

The show brings together three leading figures from the local world music scene – composers and bandleaders in their own right: saxophonist and vocalist Abate Berihun, considered the father of Israeli Ethio-jazz; Omri Mor, whose music blends Spanish-Moroccan Andalusian traditions with jazz; and Brazilian-born percussionist Joca Perpignan, who preserves and celebrates Brazilian musical traditions in Israel.

This is a celebration of rhythm, movement, sorrow, and joy.
