A Yellow Submarine original production
Live soundtracks to the films of director and animator Suzan Pitt
An evening of solidarity between female directors and musicians, who carve their own path in the creative world.
A composer and a vocalist head on a joint journey through colors, characters and tales. Together they bring to the world a brand new, original soundtrack to the films of Suzan Pitt.
2018 saw another large step forward in the gender revolution, which has spanned over several decades. In the spirit of these changes, we have created a project to highlight female filmmakers who have changed the face of cinema with their own unique aesthetic.
This project dissolves the familiar narrative that places concept in the center, and instead focuses on women as creators and performers.
The films shown in this project were created during a time of social oppression and exclusion of women from positions of power and influence, which is part of the reason each of these directors are considered groundbreaking and are seen as role models for feminine creativity in a patriarchal surrounding.
Today, women are no longer on the margins of the film industry and can express themselves with much greater ease, due to the gender revolution.
Suzan Pitt, animator and filmmaker, received international acclaim for her work. In 1968 Pitt began making films based on her paintings and drawings. Her surrealist films deals with social issues, and address human sexuality and emotion.
Last June, Pitt passed away, and so this event will also be a dedicated memorial to her life and work.
The following films will be screened at the event:
Asparagus, Joy Street , Visitation, Pinball
Artistic Direction: Shira Z. Carmel | Composers: Or Sinai
