School of Sound Design

Our program runs parallel to the academic year – beginning in the fall (after the Sukkot holiday) and concluding in June.

The Yellow Submarine holds an annual  intensive sound design course, which offers a unique learning style built to achieve the highest level of knowledge and practical experience, all in just one academic year – during which, students will already be producing a professional piece of sound work.

Program

Who is our course right for?

Our sound design course is aimed at musicians, private studio owners or home studio enthusiasts, as well as anyone interested in venturing into or honing their skills in the realm of professional sound design. The syllabus, created by sound and recording engineers, leading sound technicians, producers and educators alike, was designed to answer the needs of participants from a wide range of backgrounds – with great or little experience – who wish to improve and expand their knowledge and be up to date with the latest production techniques in the industry.

There are three central principles that guide the Yellow Submarine’s sound design program

– Giving participants practical experience with the latest equipment:

There is no alternative to practical experience! The Yellow Submarine takes students beyond classroom studies into practical recording and production settings.

Our students are considered family at the Submarine, and all doors are open to them throughout the course. We encourage our students to take part in all musical events and activities taking place, and participate to their ability in ongoing recording sessions and concerts. Practice workshops, which are held in small, intimate groups, provide firsthand experience in operating sound equipment as early as the second study session.

– Holding a sound design program in one of Israel’s most active and important musical centers:

The Yellow Submarine is a leading performance venue and recording studio.

We regularly feature major Israeli artists, both onstage and in the studio, including: Shlomi Shaban, Daniel Zamir, Hadag Nahash, Marsh Dondurma, Asaf Avidan and many others.

Our facilities include an advanced studio setting, rehearsal space, and a performance venue- fully equipped with a sophisticated sound and lighting system.

– Building a team of instructors who are professionally active in the field of sound:

Our staff includes some of the finest producers and sound designers. These professionals are there to make sure that students learn and practice material most relevant to the present and future of the industry.
