Oliver Nelson’s timeless masterpiece album “The Blues and The Abstract Truth” was released in 1961 and immediately became one of the cornerstones of modern jazz. It was an album that smartly combined traditional blues hymns of the greater USA, including country music, bluegrass style, New Orleans blues and more, played by the top-notch hardbop artists of the era (Bill Evans, Freddie Hubbards, Eric Dolphy). The album featured Nelson’s fabulous arrangements who later became one of the most in demand arranger on American TV and to great artists such as Diana Ross and James Brown.
For the first time in Israel, the album will be interpreted in its entirety with much respect to the blues tradition, while giving it the Israeli “hutzpa” by the Shauli Einav septet. The septet proudly features the leading Israeli jazz musicians from Israel and abroad.
