Jazz @ The Submarine: Mario Romano

Mario Romano was born in 1951 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to a family of modest Italian immigrants. From an early age he showed a special talent for music and found special interest with the piano being educated on traditions of Italian folk songs.

At the age of 14 his family immigrated to Canada where he was exposed and fell in love with jazz. It wasn’t long before he was considered one of the most prominent jazz pianists in Canada performing all over the country.

Life circumstances turned his career towards real-estate and he is now among the main developers in Toronto.

Alongside his financial success, Mario Romano is a philanthropist and director of a wide range of humanitarian, social and educational projects. In addition, he never left the piano, and for the past ten years has been performing with leading musicians in North America in Europe and Israel.

Mario and the Quartet released five albums with original compositions and intriguing performances presenting meticulous arrangements. His shows are known for being a spectacular performance with a warm atmosphere, as only Italians know how to create.
